NIRF 2022 Rankings: Management - IIM Kozhikode Ranked Among Top 4 IIMs for 2nd Year in a Row

• IIMK improves overall scoring in Management Category by 2% to finish above older institutions like IIM Lucknow, MDI Gurgaon XLRI Jamshedpur and NITIE Mumbai for the second year running

• 'Outreach & Inclusivity' (up by 15%), ‘Teaching, Learning & Resources’ (up by 5%) contribute majorly to IIMK’s improved score.

IIM Kozhikode retained its spot among Top 4 IIMs in the country in the coveted NIRF India Rankings 2022, released by the Ministry of Education today. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), introduced by the Ministry of Education since 2016, outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country and is considered to be the most authoritative in India. IIMK has now surpassed older institutions like IIM Lucknow, MDI Gurgaon, XLRI Jamshedpur, NITIE Mumbai for the second year running. Hon’ble Minister of Education Shri Dharmendra Pradhan did the honours for NIRF India Rankings 2022, in an event in New Delhi attended by Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director IIMK, other institutional heads and officials of the Ministry of Education. Overall, IIMK is now among the Top 5 management institutions in the country for consecutive years (2021 & 2022).

The parameters for ranking include Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR, 30%), Research and Professional Practice (RP, 30%), Graduation Outcomes (GO, 20%), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI, 10%) and Perception (PR, 10%).

IIMK, one of the fastest growing IIMs in the country, has continued its stride forward with an overall score improvement from 69.96 in 2020 to 73.34 in 2021 to eventually 74.74 in 2022; thus significantly closing the gap with older IIMs. IIMK’s conscious outreach efforts to encourage a diverse classroom and bring in gender as well as social inclusivity by introducing several measures, has resulted in a remarkable 15% increase in scores under ‘Outreach & Inclusivity’ (OI) this year. The other major contributor to IIMK’s improved showing in scores is attributed to 5% increase in Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR) category.
