Organizing Circle: Conscious Business Circle
Date: November 2020
The Conscious Business Circle got an opportunity to organize the prestigious Hult Prize Competition for our IIMK community. The theme for 2020 was ‘Food for Good’, aimed at driving innovation and thinking in the food sustainability space.
Agriculture accounts for 1/3rdof the value ofeconomic output globally.Finding a sustainable solution to the production, distribution and consumption of food was central to the competition.
The Hult competitionasked teams around the world to build viable foodenterprises that will impact the lives of 10M people in the next decade whilestrengthening communities, increasing incomes, feeding the hungry andcreating jobs.
The Hult competition at IIMK consisted of 2 rounds – a quiz and a pitch. Participants who made it to the second round had to pitch their food sustainability solution to our judging panel. We had the privilege to host Viridian Accelerator members Surya Kant and Setu Goyal, who heard the pitches and helped us pick the best 3 out of a total of 7 participants who made it to the 2nd round.
Creative ideas around sustainable juices, contract forming, cold storage, and straw homes were just some of the solutions that were pitched. The judges were impressed with the breadth and depth of the solutions that were presented.
The winning team has been given a chance to pitch their sustainability solution at the Hult Prize Nationals in 2021. The BL-Conscious Business Circle thoroughly enjoyed organizing this competition for the students of IIMK!
