I am an economist specializing in international trade and finance, with a keen interest in macroeconomic policy, financial regulation, and trade dynamics. I earned my Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), where my research focused on the effects of trade wars and trade policy uncertainty on global trade. I also hold a master’s degree in Statistics from the Indian Statistical Institute.
My professional journey began at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in 2012, where I was honored with the prestigious Golden Jubilee Scholarship for higher studies. Before pursuing my Ph.D., I served as a Manager in RBI’s research department, gaining invaluable experience in macroeconomic policy analysis and financial regulation. During my time at RBI, I worked on diverse research areas, including estimating India’s sacrifice ratio, nowcasting GDP and corporate sales growth, and leveraging Big Data for economic forecasting.
Beyond my doctoral research, I have explored various facets of international trade, capital flows, and firm dynamics. My work includes studying agricultural markets and trade dynamics in India, analyzing firm behavior using detailed micro-level data, and co-authoring research on the heterogeneous effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on Indian households.
Currently, I am involved in climate risk assessment and spillover impact analysis alongside Galina Hale, Julian Di Giovanni, and others. My recent paper on Chinese monetary policy was presented at the Chinese Economy Working Group Meeting. Additionally, I contribute to the EU-funded Making Agriculture Trade Sustainable (MATS) project, which seeks to enhance agricultural trade practices at national, EU, African, and global levels.
In recognition of my academic contributions, I was honored with the Eileen Brooks Memorial Award (2020-21) and the Best Dissertation Award at UCSC. These accolades reflect my commitment to advancing economic research and shaping policies that drive sustainable and inclusive growth.
