Customs
I am Ashwin John George, currently serving as the Joint Commissioner at the Office of the Commissioner of Customs, Custom House, Willingdon Island, Cochin, Kerala. In this role, I oversee various administrative, legal, and enforcement functions critical to the smooth operation of customs activities in the region. My responsibilities extend across multiple domains, including Legal and Prosecution, Internal Audit, Vigilance, Technical and Statistics, Customs Intelligence, and Revenue Recovery.
I did my B.A. (Hons.) in English from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University in 2008, followed by an M.A. in Development Studies from TISS, Mumbai in 2010. After that, I worked with the ICICI Centre for Child Health & Nutrition in Pune for a year. I joined the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) in the 2013 batch and have since worked in Central Excise, Service Tax, GST, and Customs formations in Kerala and Lakshadweep. In 2023, I was promoted and posted as Joint Commissioner at the Custom House in Cochin.
With a strong commitment to efficiency and compliance, I work closely with my team to streamline customs processes, enhance security, and facilitate trade. My focus remains on upholding the integrity of customs operations while fostering a transparent and responsive administrative environment.
