David Kendix is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and has spent his career working for various global insurance groups, specialising in model risk, corporate strategy and governance. As statistician for the International Cricket Council and member of their Cricket Committee, he is responsible for identifying statistical trends in the game and for drafting playing regulations. In 1996, he peer reviewed the Duckworth Lewis method and recommended its adoption. In 2002 he designed and still maintains the official team rankings, subsequently expanded to more than 100 countries, covering men’s and women’s cricket. He was called as an expert witness in a criminal trial of three Test cricketers, applying statistical techniques to detect evidence of match-fixing. He has been the official scorer in over 100 internationals including 50 Test matches (mostly at Lord’s) and has served as Board Director and Treasurer of Middlesex County Cricket Club. He has been President of The Association of Cricket Statisticians and Historians since 2017. As statistician for World Netball, he designed and maintains their team ranking system and devised their world championship tournament structure.
