Kozhikode City
Calicut (Kozhikode) is situated in the northern part of the state of Kerala, known in tourist parlance as the "Land of the Green Magic" and "God's Own Country". It is one of the smaller cities in India, with a population of around 400,000 only. The People are cordial and honest. The weather is tropical-temperate, ranging from 34 degrees in peak summer to 21 degrees in January. The rainy period is during May-October. The mountains and forests of the beautiful Wayanad are only an hour's drive to the northeast. To the south of Calicut lie the famed backwaters and wildlife sanctuaries of Kerala at easily reachable distances.
